One of Five Companies to Purchase YouTube

Monday, July 31st, 2006

YouTube is an amazing website with a novel idea and has recently have been estimated to have a market value of approximately $1 billion. That’s $1,000,000,000.00. That is a lot of money.

I’ve come up with five companies that I think are the most likely to purchase YouTube (here).

Time Warner - AOL Time Warner would be a great company to purchase You Tube, and in my opinion, one of the most likely. It has a great platform for distribution of videos and marketing with all their other features and would have a high success rate of further marketing.

Sony - Sony would be great, and follows right behind Time Warner and Yahoo! In my opinion. They’ve got a great are and potential for marketing and production.

Microsoft - Microsoft may purchase it, but in my opinion it’s unlikely. Microsoft doesn’t have much media-related content/companies that would successfully help market YouTube.

Yahoo! - Yahoo! Is growing. They have Flickr, their photo-sharing site. It would be a great purcahse for Yahoo! They could somehow integrate or co-market Flickr and YouTube and would have a high success rate.

Google - Google is a possibility. They already have the Google Videos, and if Google were to purchase YouTube they’d only add to their monopoly. They also have the “plus” of integration.

NewsCorp - NewsCorp and Fox would have a great little monarchy growing here as well with the addition of YouTube with Myspace. They have a huge potential for marketing and integration. A likelihood.

Just my thoughts. Feel free to comment.

It is a world of technology and new technologies are introduced every single day. Similar to mobiles, now windows also have the potential to use wireless internet service. The main rivalries in wireless business are cingular wireless, sprint wireless and so on. People can connect to internet through different wireless services if they have good wireless internet coverage connection. Different services like wi fi hotspot, installation and maintenance of wireless internet equipment, etc are provided by different internet providers to their customers. The rogers wireless is another wireless internet provider which is planning to introduce new product in the market.

Vista: To be Delayed?

Monday, July 31st, 2006

Last Thursday Microsoft failed to end the fear that the new version of Windows software - Microsoft Windows Vista - would be delayed yet again. This brought up the issues that the growth of related technology may temporarily stagnate; particularly programs and applications specifically related to the Windows system. Because of this, Microsoft’s shares dropped 2% down to $23.87 on the NASDAQ.

Kevin Johnson, the co-president of Microsoft’s platforms and services unit say that they’ll “ship Windows Vista when it is available.”

Windows currently supplies the operating system for more than 90% of worldwide PCs. It has been five years since Microsoft released it’s last Operating System, and Vista is speculated to be released in early 2007.

Google Launches Open Source Project Hosting

Yesterday Google launched “Google Code,” which is a place where developers can host current open source web projects. this is similar to the existing sourceforge, only run by Google.

The actual page of Google’s project can be found here.

The service is still new and still very very simple, but with time more features are expected. Expect more details on Google Code in the near future.

Myspace mass delete?

Friday, July 28th, 2006

As of July 28th, I cannot log onto myspace. Not only did they have a huge power outage for last weekend which rendered myspace down for three plus days, it appears the same is happening again.

At first I thought myspace had deleted all my accoutns - I have 3 - because they were potential market accounts. I’d never posted bulletins, so I didn’t think this was the case. Furthermore, they deleted my personal account, which is really my biggest loss.

I really hope my accounts are deleted, primarily my personal account. This would suck. However, I think - and hope - this is not the case. Many of my friends accounts are also deleted. It either won’t let us log in or it shows that our account is invalid or we’ve been deleted.

Transparent Computer Screens

Monday, July 17th, 2006

Computer hardware producers around the world announced yesterday of their joint effort to improve LCD screens and their resolution: the result - transparent screens. (maybe not, but it sounds good)

In all reality, this post is nothing more than a fun post pointing out some good stuff in potential technology. See the below photos.

And, of course, the most convincing youtube video.

Actually, these are just photoshopped images and video edits, still fun nonetheless.

The Ring Two

Monday, July 17th, 2006

Firstly let me say that I realize I’m like two months late after the movies release. I know that. However, unlike all you rich and active people, I haven’t had the chance to see it until now.

ring2

Anyway, I saw this last week, and it exceeded my expectations, albiet they were a bit low.

Basically this movie was the sequal to “The Ring” which is based off of “Ringu”. In this movie the woman and her son must cope as the spirit of a dead child haunts them and tries to possess her son.

With this movie I initally thought it would just be a quick horror flick that stood below the standards. While it wasn’t exceptional, it was a fun movie to watch and sort of mesured up to the standards of horror movies. It wasn’t increadibly original, but it wasn’t bad either. Unlike the first movie, there was more of a clear plot to this one. Good effects and characterization as well.

Man get’s house from paperclip

Thursday, July 13th, 2006

Kyle MacDonald began his quest in July 12 of 2005. It began by a simple blog post, but expanded from there. Basically he began with one red paper clip and, after 14 trades of items of various values, he managed to get a house. He finally reached that goal when he traded a role in a movie for the house.

His trades grew from the initial paperclip to pens, doorknobs, a generator, a panel truck, a year rent in an apartment in Phoenix, a day with Alice Cooper, a Kiss snow globe, and eventually the house.

On an ending note, I’d just like to say I found this interesting. I’ve heard of people trading a quarter for a car, but nothing in the low number (14) Kyle managed. Very interesting, though perhaps unoriginal idea. :P

US vetoes UN Israel condemnation

US vetoes UN Israel condemnation

Today the United States vetoed the Arab-initiated resolution against Israel’s action in the Gaza. This resolution would have demanded Israel halt all military action they’ve taken in the Gaza Strip.

This was the first veto issued in the United Nations in nearly two years. Ten different countries voted for the resolution, four remained neutral, and the United States voted against it. For the resolution to have passed, nine nations must have voted for it with no veto.

The resolution demanded the release of Israeli Cpl. Gilad Shalit and Israel’s immediate withdraw from the Gaza Strip.

Gore to Train 1,000 to Spread Word about Global Warming

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

As Al Gore travels across the world promoting his moving and sharing his slide show, he’s training 1,000 others to do the same. The former vice Democratic Vice President said last monday taht he will begin a bipartisan campaign to train 1,000 people to give his slide show on global warming. This is similar to the slide show featured in the film, “An Inconvenient Truth.” Gore also has a book with the same title.

My question to you, the reader, is this: why is this guy so damn passionate? Why does he care? Why does he take the burden upon himself to save the world? Does someone have an answer to this burning question? If you do, please leave me a comment.

It’s for publicity, from what I can tell. Either that, or he plans to attempt (note, I said attempt) to re-run for election in 2008 or 2012.

There are many hosting services providers in the market like netfirms, bluehost and so on which give different services to there customers. It is know that the best image hosting is provided by Google and yahoo. The startlogic offer a large range of hosting services for companies, offices and universities etc. each use different tools and techniques like for sharing folder, FTP is used to upload folders on hostgator server or on any other hosting server. One can not tell which web hosting provider is better than another. For this one should read webhosting reviews, they tell customers experiences and helps a lot in making good decisions, like netfirms hosting reviews.

Dead Man’s Chest - Fairwell, Jack

Saturday, July 8th, 2006

Well, last night I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, which is the second installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. A quick rundown: When Will and Elizabeth are faced with the death penalty, Will must seek out Captain Jack Sparrow. The end up thrust into a series of adventures: everything from cannibals to Davey Jones.
All in all, it was a decent movie, regardless of the mediocre reviews given by the mainstream press. The theater was still packed and my reserve tickets did no good in getting me good seats.

The plot could use some work though. It has the humor, but most of it was there for the sake of having humor - it didn’t much fit the situations. Much of the effects were dumb, such as the half-man, half-aquatic creatures.

All in all, it was a decent movie. (warning: spoiler ahead). At the end, however, Elizabeth killed Jack Sparrow by chaining him to the Black Pearl as it sank. The ending sets it up perfectly for another sequel by re-introducing Captain Balboa. Also the ending, while having Jack dead, gives the strong possibility of his return.

This isn’t meant to be an in-depth review, just a quick summary. I’d still recommend seeing it, but it’s one of those movies you want to wait until it hits DVD to watch.

In this competitive world it is very difficult to find high quality web hosting services from a good provider. There are many web host providers like anhosting, bluehost, Betahosts and so on. But it is very difficult to get or find all the best services like best email hosting service, good space, best file transferring rate etc from one provider. There are very few providers which are providing webhosting cheap domain. A top quality webhosting provider which giving economical webhosting with asp, PhP, domain names support etc is known as ipowerweb. But still before select any web hosting service its best to read reviews and blogs to have a clear picture about the providers.
