None the Wiser

Friday, December 15th, 2006

So I got all four wisdom teeth taken out this morning. And let me tell you, it sucks.

Basically I went in there and got nitrus (laughing gas). My arms got numb. It made me a little dizzy, but mostly numb. I was completely aware of what was going though, just a little less observant of the pain.

The had to dig. I’m tellin’ ya. They dug out those teeth. I recall the surgeon pull one out and say “that’s a big, ugly tooth”. The last one was the killer though. They had to keep giving me more topical stuff to numb my gums because it hurt. Turns out the roots on that tooth were slightly curved (well, 90 degrees of a curve, so very curved) which made it come out harder.

I finished and it wouldn’t stop bleeding. Still is a little.

Feels like I’m missing four teeth. Really wierd.

I don’t recommend it.

I’m Un-Unemployed

Friday, December 15th, 2006

So yeah, I went home and wept, crying myself to sleep.

I got a job. Basically I originally had an interview at the Peoria Public Lirbary like three weeks ago. I didn’t get hired, but apparently the person who gave me my first interview recommended me to another department. The other department gave me a interview yesterday and hired me on the spot.

Basically I’ll be working in the Arts and Music department on the Main Branch (downtown) of Peoria Public Library on the second floor. It’s the section where people can check out artwork, music, audiobooks and movies. Yup.

So yeah, pretty amazing. Perhaps now I can afford breakfast every once in a while.

AOL Leaks Data

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

The data on over 650,000 users has been leaked from AOL.

The data has been taken down from AOL, but there is at least one mirror site where anyone can download it if they desire.

Much of the data includes personal names, addresses, social security numbers, search data, and more.

There’s some pretty scary search out here. Here’s some of the worse stuff:

Man get’s house from paperclip

Thursday, July 13th, 2006

Kyle MacDonald began his quest in July 12 of 2005. It began by a simple blog post, but expanded from there. Basically he began with one red paper clip and, after 14 trades of items of various values, he managed to get a house. He finally reached that goal when he traded a role in a movie for the house.

His trades grew from the initial paperclip to pens, doorknobs, a generator, a panel truck, a year rent in an apartment in Phoenix, a day with Alice Cooper, a Kiss snow globe, and eventually the house.

On an ending note, I’d just like to say I found this interesting. I’ve heard of people trading a quarter for a car, but nothing in the low number (14) Kyle managed. Very interesting, though perhaps unoriginal idea. :P

The most beautiful thing I ever saw

Saturday, June 3rd, 2006

Yes. This is the most amazing, most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

From Cnet:

The good: Sleek, attention-getting design; high-quality, adjustable 20-inch LCD; speakers offer crisp, rich audio; detachable Bluetooth keyboard and Media Center remote will work well from the couch or during a presentation; top-of-the-line components deliver high overall performance and competent gaming capability.

The bad: Absurdly expensive; TV tuner and some other A/V connections aren’t built in; too heavy to be truly portable.

The bottom line: A striking feat of engineering that’s sure to garner attention in a stylish home or on a multimedia-intensive sales call, the Dell XPS M2010 is simply too expensive and impractical to be anything more than a curio for the rest of us.

Isn’t it simply amazing? You can read more or watch the video on it here.

I am now accepting donations to the paypal address of Lpspider@gmail.com or from the button below.

I’ll keep you post on the “progress.” Current status: $0.00/$4500.00

Get a free ipod (well, not exactly)

Monday, April 17th, 2006

Well folks, as you know there is an abundance of “freebie” websites out there. The get a free iPod is the most well know and publicized.

The fact is, the vast majority of these so-called free offers aren’t really free. You often may end up spending more trying to get your free item than it’d cost to simply buy it. That’s the psychology behind such things - it’s very discreet.

However, one must wonder… is there a way to do such a free scheme at make a profit? Well, I’ve decided I’m going to find out.

I’ve created an account at www.free4me.net (referral link) in an attempt to see if I can do such an offer. I’m going to try to make $600, which is one of their offers, using $150 or less. This means I can spend roughly up to $19 to get or do each offer.

Following this, if successful, I’m going to get a Mac, using half of the remaining $450.

It’s not going to be easy, but it’s simply an experiment for such freebie sites.

I’ll keep you posted. If you’d like to help me out, you can register for “gadgets” or cash, and you can register for a Mac or iBook.
